About the Conference
The primary event is the General Services Conference, the main forum where delegates from areas from all over the country meet to discuss, debate, and decide on issues of major importance to our Fellowship. The Conference acts as the effective voice of the Fellowship and provides spiritual direction to the Board of Trustees in their execution of the day-to-day activities of CMA. Therefore, it is critical that we have as many Delegates as possible attend the Conference – we need everyone’s voice to be heard. As always, every member of CMA is invited and encouraged to attend. Only elected Area Delegates along with the CMA Trustees and members of the CMA GSO, it's GSO subcommittee Chairs and GSO subcommittee members can cast a vote.
Registration fees The basic registration fee allows access to the venue for the Conference Committee meetings and Assembly, as well as to the off-site entertainment on Saturday evening.
Who is a Delegate? Area Delegates are individuals elected by their respective Areas to attend the Conference, carrying the voice and the vote of the area’s groups. Information on electing Delegates can be found in the CMA Service Manual available on the CMA Service Website to members of the fellowship in CMA Service.
Please note that the method of electing delegates has changed from 2008. The 2008 General Services Conference approved the Conference Charter, which specifies how Area Delegates are to be elected, so the 2010 Conference will be using this new method. In summary, one Area Delegate will be elected from each Area Assembly. Currently, each state and province is allowed one Area Assembly, so the result is that each state or province is allowed to send one Area Delegate to the Conference. Be careful – the word “Area” may cause some confusion in certain places. Many parts of the country use this word to describe various combinations of groups, but for the purposes of the Conference, we are using the definition provided by the Charter.
